The RFP process for the sale of city-owned land at Westbrook Station was released in November 2011 that was promoted through Alberta Purchasing Connection, local and national papers, The City of Calgary’s Real Estate Website, City of Calgary Twitter feed, City of Calgary industry mailout as well as an optional pre-proposal meeting. The deadline for RFP submissions was January 31, 2012 and the evaluation of submissions took place in February to March 2012.

A successful proponent was selected and negotiations have taken place. The identity of the proponent is to remain confidential until closing. Council approved the negotiated terms and conditions for the sale in 2013 and we are waiting for the sale to close in the coming months.

Westbrook Village Area Redevelopment Plan (ARP)

Westbrook Station will contribute to the overall vision for Westbrook Village. As outlined in the Westbrook Village ARP, the redevelopment of the 53-acre area is intended to shift from its current uses as an auto-oriented, low-density commercial shopping mall and high school site into a pedestrian-friendly neighbourhood with a range of housing choices, a diversity of employment opportunities, and a wide array of public amenities and activities. Westbrook Village will be an attractive, interesting, walkable, safe and complete urban community.
